Beginner's Guide to the Four Late Night Rumble Arena Modes
New to Late Night Rumble Arena? Learn how free-for-all, team deathmatch, capture the flag, and last player standing work, plus the controls.
Late Night Rumble Arena has four game modes, and the host picks which one you play each round. If you are joining your first live game, this guide covers how each mode works and how to control your operator.
Before the match
A few things are true in every mode:
- A room holds up to 30 combined players and optional bots.
- The host chooses a round length between 60 and 120 seconds, and 90 seconds is the default.
- Matches take place on Neon Circuit Yard, Lumen Keel, or Late Night Vision, and the host can rotate maps.
- The host can also set score, capture, or rounds-to-win limits, depending on the mode.
Free-for-all
Every operator competes on their own. The first player to reach the elimination score the host set wins, and the round timer also limits play.
Beginner tip: keep moving. Standing still in a free-for-all makes you an easy target for everyone at once.
Team deathmatch
Players are balanced into two teams, cyan and magenta. Every elimination adds to your team's score, and teammates cannot damage each other, so you do not have to worry about friendly fire.
Beginner tip: stay near your teammates. Fighting as a group wins more trades than going it alone.
Capture the flag
Cyan and magenta each defend their own flag while trying to carry the enemy flag back home. There is one catch: a capture only counts if your team's own flag is at its base. If the other team has taken your flag, you need to get it back before you can score.
Beginner tip: not everyone needs to attack. A player or two on defense can stop a capture at the last second.
Last player standing
Everyone has one life for the round, with no respawns partway through. The final operator still standing wins the round.
Beginner tip: there is no rush. Let other players fight each other first, and pick your moments carefully.
Controls
- Desktop: move with W A S D, aim with the mouse or the arrow keys, fire with the left mouse button or Space, and use your special with Q.
- Phones and tablets: twin touch controls handle movement and aiming, and the special button sits by your right thumb.
LNV Play runs in a supported browser with WebGL and an internet connection. There is nothing to download, and browser zoom still works if you need larger text.
Make it your own
Every mode plays differently depending on your operator and special. Our guide to choosing your operator and special has ideas for each mode.
